The latest wages data has been released. The figures show wages have increased by 0.7% this quarter, taking the price wage index to 2.4% for the year, but that is still roughly half the rate of inflation. 7NEWS

Annually, wage growth is at 2.4 per cent.

The Northern Territory recorded the lowest quarterly growth rate at 0.3 per cent and the lowest through the year at 1.9 per cent. “You should be able to pay your rent, to buy food, to get by, and the Fair Work Commission should bear that in mind in the decision that they make,” he earlier told reporters in Melbourne.Scott Morrison lashed the Labor leader over his promises to accelerate wages growth, saying he was “making things up on the run”.
