In parts of the business world, invitations to the Albanese government’s September jobs and skills summit are regarded as the hottest tickets in town.
Invitations have been sent out, but the government has not yet released who will be attending, and some companies remain coy about whether they have scored an invitation. Specific industry groups are also turning up, including Australian Banking Association CEO Anna Bligh; Minerals Council of Australia CEO Tania Constable; National Farmers Federation president Fiona Simson; Australian Retailers Association CEO Paul Zahra; Australian Constructors Association CEO Jon Davies; and Master Builders Association national president Simon Butt.
The government is expected to release more details about who is attending from business, unions and the non-government sector in the lead-up to the event.released a paper for the summit KPMG’s Alison Kitchen said she hoped one key priority would be a “sensible and rational debate about reopening our borders for the right skilled migration.”
