“The Nova Scotia government sent copies of the photos and a message from Premier Tim Houston to each of us. I’ve always been interested in Nova Scotia politics and federal politics as well as American politics, seeing the premier not long after an election, I was kind of starstruck.”“I looked up and I said, ‘oh my gosh, that is the premier of Nova Scotia.’ It was so awesome being there. The next thing, I shook hands with Premier Houston.
“The people I work with are so nice, the customers are so nice ... it makes the day go by fast. I have found meeting the customers who come through the door a very good experience.”“I guess hiking is something I’ve been doing my whole life with my family and friends. It would be my number one hobby.”
Emily Gillis, a fairly new employee at Avery’s, resides in Brookfield. Like her two co-workers, Emily was surprised and pleased to have been part of Premier Houston’s mid-July visit to the market on Willow Street.“I think it was a wonderful experience for our young employees,” Simpson said. “These young people really enjoyed the premier’s visit. It was uplifting for them; it will be good for them going forward. It was also a good thing for the store, I was totally impressed.
