The Department of Health on Monday revealed that the government is now preparing for the procurement of second-generation vaccines covering the old Covid-19 strain and Omicron variants.

“For another manufacturer, we are working on a non-disclosure agreement. If we are able to proceed with these transactions, we will be able to procure the next generation of Covid-19 vaccine by the first quarter of next year,” Vergeire said.“We have proposed P95 billion for Covid response and the approved for the NEP [National Expenditure Program] 2023 was P24.49 billion,” she added.

“There has been evidence already that the immunity provided by the first two doses has been affected and that immunity we really had for those two doses of vaccines is already waning,” he said. The Phase 2/3 clinical trials will evaluate the immunogenicity, efficacy and safety of YishengBio Co., Ltd., or YishengBio’s PIKA recombinant Covid-19 vaccine as a booster injection among subjects who received 2 or more doses of inactivated Covid-19 vaccine.
