We did not want to go down the road of open, closed, open, closed, depending on my status for the day and staffing,” Mack Sullivan said. “Eight months being closed with no income was very difficult, but eight months with the business being closed is a bad image.”“I am not going to steal the thunder from the purchaser,” Mack Sullivan said. “But we fully support the new owners, their venture, and the future of the restaurant.

The Sullivan family includes their four adult children and three teenagers, four of whom they adopted. The Sullivans’ met working at Washington Diner in the early 1990s. They were married by 1994.
