The Egyptian hosts of COP27 have picked him to co-chair crunch talks on funding poorer countries’ energy transitions - a move that augurs well for Australia’s bid to host the 2026 summit.

Egyptian COP27 president Sameh Shoukry unexpectedly tapped Mr Bowen to steer talks on ways to unlock funding for developing countries’ energy transitions. His co-facilitator will be India’s Bhupender Yadav.
