President Cyril Ramaphosa is 'seriously considering' asking a court to review the findings by an independent panel that he may have violated the constitution, his spokesman said. | News24_Business

President Cyril Ramaphosa is seriously considering taking the Phala Phala report on review, his spokesman said. The ANC's leadership will be meeting on Sunday to discuss its response to the report.President Cyril Ramaphosa is"seriously considering" asking a court to review the findings by an independent panel that he may have violated the constitution, his spokesman said.

Approaching the courts would represent a volte-face by Ramaphosa. Two days ago, he was considering resigning after the panel led by a former chief justice found the president may have a case of impeachment to answer following a theft of at least $580 000 that was stashed in a sofa at a game farm he owns. The scandal rattled South African financial markets. The rand posted its biggest weekly decline against the dollar in three months, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The gathering of ANC officials had been scheduled to start on Friday, before being abruptly adjourned after former President Thabo Mbeki, a critic of Ramaphosa's leadership, raised objections about the president's absence from the gathering. ANC Chairman Gwede Mantashe, an ally of Ramaphosa, said the president wouldn't be attending the meetings because he is the subject of the discussions. Mantashe also said that the panel's report has to be assessed by the National Working Committee - which oversees the running of the party on a day-to-day basis - before it's considered by the NEC.— FIKILE MBALULA | MR FIX

_Business Again a waist of tax payers money courts pannels lawers judges ect.he just know how to spent money that he dont contribute to

_Business So, he is undermining everyone including Parliament. Why does the President issue this statement while there is a parliamentary process in place, and other investigations?

_Business Should get a court from another country.....these courts are just as corrupt

_Business But refused the public protector same privilege

_Business Azikhale

_Business

_Business

_Business Oh No Courts and NPA can never judge against their breadwinner. He captured the whole judiciary sphere to protect himself. If the parliamentarians can't impeach him, they must just forget, courts can't do anything plausible about the Phala Phala issue.

_Business He needs to go if the Anc is respecting us as the citizens of this country his telling us that his above the why he didn't report this crime to the police at who's expense his team went to Namibia to investigate the crime that happened in his farm this law delinquent needs to go

_Business It's his Constitutional right to go to court. We all know how the courts just love to postpone cases. Maybe he will even be eligible for elections in 2024.. That will piss a lot of his accusers off..

_Business How can a report of corruption start with....may have.... May have is not evidence May have is speculation May have is hear say Maybe the report was written this way on purpose. Why did Fraser take 2 years to come forward Why after 2 years have the buffaloes not been fetched.

_Business He has every right except the step aside rule still operates he MUST resign immediately & pursue all avenues available to o him to seek redress.

_Business The country needs service delivery. The president has a lot on his plate bathong. He needs all the time en energy to deal with his things.

_Business He has failed us all, politically, professionally, and personally

_Business She was suspended in the meantime. Cyril must step aside or resign.

_Business You should be criminally charged point!.you contravened the exchange controls!.what counts for us as citizens should count for you also.

_Business A day or so ago, he 'seroiusly considered resigning', he has no serious hair on his head for ZAR. Tsek!

_Business Not when the likes of Mathews Phosa Thuli Madonsela just appear from nowhere to defend him publicly, they're influencing the outcome already

_Business Corruption is corruption!!!!

_Business After reading the report, I only say that if he is innocent, let the panel enquiry proceed to impeachment enquiry. their findings must be made public. Interested parties will litigate in court. ANC will suffer big time. The country has already felt his inability to govern.

_Business He must ‘seriously resign’ now!!

_Business Asking Zondo right? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

_Business Let him go ahead and do that, but that must not be a reason for the NEC or the membership to act. In any case, the people will have the ultimate say, we do have an EFF that can take our movement forward if the are too cowardly to act.

_Business At a scale of 1-10 how seriously is he considering?

_Business Life for black people is worse under Ramaphosa presidency.

_Business Which court is he going to approach. The day courts will be paralyzed is when he will take it to the constitutional court for review. The Zondo Commission will be taken to court aswell. The law will be dead and a new constitution will be drafted to remedy the damage.

_Business It is obvious his chief justice will assist him, who cares? only WMC and his beneficiaries. We'the poor people' will remain HOPELESSLY.

_Business Itts a dangerous thing to do since he knows his criminal acts

_Business All those implicated in Zondo report must also take it on review

_Business It’s game over, he knows, his handlers want him to stay. He can never preach to us again about renewal or ethics, he is no different to any of the ANC members. He will sell this country to the highest bidder. Dangerous person.

_Business Kicking the can down the road

_Business Step aside and sort OUT your reviews

_Business Dictatorship starts like this

_Business The President is fortunate besides his spokesperson also has New Dawn media group that release reports on his behalf. TheCitizen_News dailymaverick TimesLIVE doing a great job

_Business Courts or his friends

_Business And if he is not happy with the Court's decision he will take it on appeal to the SCA and then the Concourt. Should take couple of years. Then he will not be happy with the ad hoc committees finding. Another Zuma.

_Business No accountability whatsoever. The Courts are Mlambo and Zondo

_Business Phakama Judge Hlophe ixhesha lifikile 🤣🤣🤣

_Business Which court would conduct the review? Would it be the Western Cape High Court under Hlope? ferialhaffajee ThuliMadonsela3 mailandguardian

_Business Ramaphosa Knows better,He suspended PP even She took the report for review.if he knows how to balance.he step aside and review.the same way PP is fighting.unless if Ramaphosa has a special Law for Him.

_Business Why does he fear to appear before the impeachment committee and set the record straight?

_Business Oh another panel and committee, get some money, loot it and make it the way he wants it. Honest person would face the truth.

_Business It's only took the Panel 45 Days to finish the report. The HAWKS/PP has been investigating and they can't finish their work because he is inside the Office.Advice him to Step Aside and fight his Fight outside.

_Business How many tax payers money he still want to waist on courts ,pannels lawers Take your hiding like a man and admit u done wrong sissy

_Business

_Business He is not that foolish because it will backfire heavily on him unless he goes to the North Gauteng High Court

_Business Been watching all these legal commentators criticize the panel report , but non of them have considered that the court may actually be even more critical of Ramaphosa then the panel which used restrictive language

_Business Hi is underestimate the black skin

_Business He must be charged and clear his name in court.

_Business Get out mfethu🧔

_Business What de fuck is this ? as far as I know breaking the fica act comes with a 10year prison sentence. O yes , only for the poor , not the mafia anc GautengANC

_Business There MYANC as his boss will have to suspend him.

_Business Whilst this is happening,we shld all start demanding for investigations 2 b prioritised,Stop with d updates of number of statements received.perhps civil and business need 2 give them an ultimatum.

_Business There's no honour among thieves.

_Business The media is very dangerous institutes in S.A politics u don't need a rocket scientist to tell u the President has found wanting nd he z pushing ANC into a bad state, worse few weeks left to go Dec Elective Congress nd u go into that wth this dark cloud

_Business President Ramaphosa is not going anywhere

_Business The ANC shuffle & blame game. Black accountability at a all time low in this country!!

_Business I don't want to see this man as President now.

_Business Judges are captured.

_Business Let him do that, so that the court can summon him, Fraser, buyer, workers and those who stole the undeclared foreign currencies and we put this matter to rest. Thank goodness for his unprovoked public confessions on the matter.

_Business Your sources are tired of your pressure... They just give you what you want, WITH NO reliable source! Ayikho lento... He is just weighing the timing. He is leaving the corrupt operations. It is tough to be at the helm of ANC , from 2014. Most youth went through matric, and so.?

_Business Now everyone is saying the report is flawed,I can tell you the people who are pushing that narrative are the bots Ramaphosa was consulting.

_Business At least now we know he is a criminal also

_Business

_Business I’m tired of this man…

_Business Re tla kwa ka ena😏

_Business So he is still undecided but he instructed his spokesperson to tell this nonsense to the media?

_Business This is the same Ramaphosa who said this...

_Business Lead us Ramaphosa 🇿🇦✅
