Another vacant town centre site will be filled

Under the proposals Cashino would become Merkur Slots as part of a national rebrand for the business and the division between the two sites would be knocked through.

The change of use for the store was considered acceptable as Cashino was already operating slot machines there, several other betting and gambling shops exist in the town centre, and “the site has been vacant for a considerable time”. In the application, the company says Merkur Slots should not be put in the same category as betting shops because of the low stakes.

It added that the average stake from customers is between 30p and 40p with the maximum allowed being £2.
