Enterprise does numerous good things in itself, which deserve to be celebrated and which should be encouraged – from creating jobs, with all their benefits to our standard of living and quality of life , to the actual things they make and services they deliver, and the further innovations and improvements they spur in this country and around the world every day.
The outcome is policymaking which mishandles the economy and stunts growth, and an ongoing tragedy in which many young people who might hugely benefit from getting into business – and would bring huge benefits to wider society by doing so – miss out on the opportunity.
