The National Energy Regulator's decision to grant Eskom tariff increases of 18.65% and 12.74% over the next two years will hit hard for South African consumers whose wallets are already stretched to the limit.
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa on Thursday announced the tariff increase decisions, the first of which takes effect from 1 April this year. Against Eskom's application for a 32% increase, Nersa granted the 18.65% increase for the year 2023/24, which starts in April.
