As McDonald's prepares to report fourth-quarter results on Tuesday with its stock close to record highs, Wall Street could get pickier about signs of growth.

As the ubiquitous burger chain prepares to report fourth-quarter results on Tuesday with its stock close to record highs, Wall Street could get pickier about signs of the company’s growth, though analysts were largely upbeat heading into the report. Some said McDonald’s MCD size made it a “defensive” play within the fast-food universe, as the industry tries to pay workers more and handle higher ingredient costs, resulting in higher prices...

“They’re not talking about the price of eggs at Denny’s DENN , ” Kalinowski said. “They’re talking about the price of eggs at their local grocery store. Even though Denny’s has taken price like a lot of chains have, it just seems like Americans are more upset by the change in price at grocery stores and supermarkets.”

But BofA data showed a widening gap between McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales and those of its rivals since the pandemic hit. When the company reported third-quarter results in October, management noted gains from “strategic price increases and positive guest counts” in the U.S. And it recently rolled out a plan to speed up restaurant openings, improve classic menu items and expand its digital-ordering capabilities.

Revenue: McDonald’s is expected to report sales of $5.72 billion, according to FactSet, down around 5% from a year ago. Estimize contributors on average expect $5.8 billion. Same-store sales are expected to rise 8.6%. UBS analysts said McDonald’s stock was “well-positioned given defensive attributes in an increasingly difficult macro” environment. They also said they believed that “customer demand in Europe stayed largely resilient.”

First, they did not increased the price not much and no tip. Regular restaurants increased a lot (20-40%?) and also tips (even tips also increased).

We refuse to order fries anymore (when we go, 1 or 2x a month), too ridiculously expensive now 😡

Oh no MC Donald's don't hit you on the prices. They hit you on the size of the burger... they get smaller and smaller everytime prices go up....😆

Hiw can people eat this plastic food? 🤮

Lol this is a stupid quote. Buy 1 McDonald’s meal a month, grocery 300 a week
