National budget speech could hold the key to boosting business and investors’ confidence in the economy - Mogajane

BUSINESS

Ramaphosa, in his address on February 9, announced government plans to address South Africa’s energy crisis and the prevailing socioeconomic challenges. As such, on Wednesday, Gondongwana will deliver this year's national budget in the National Assembly in Cape Town.Mogajane said the crisis in the energy sector was causing the local economy to stagnate, which is why it was positive to see Ramaphosa speak at length about the necessary and long-outstanding reforms required.

As the leader of a diversified company with interests spanning property development, car financing, security services, aviation, mining, transport and logistics, Mogajane added that the ripple effects of South Africa’s power situation were immediately visible across all businesses and industries.

Likewise, he said it was positive to see the acknowledgment that there must be more private investment in power generation, and that there would be more focus on stimulating rooftop solar investments, given the abundance of sunlight in South Africa.
