Former director-general of the National Treasury Dondo Mogajane says he is restoring the reputation of the Moti Group, the controversial family-owned company he has joined as CEO.
Mogajane says that his role is to sort out governance and clean up the firm's reputation, especially with banks, as neither it nor its founder Zunaid Moti has any criminal charges against them. Moti announced on Wednesday that he was"stepping away" to leave the company in the hands of Mogajane and his 24-year-old son Mikaeel.
The group has substantial interests in property, security, aviation, fleet management and mining. The mining assets in Limpopo and Zimbabwe, including Zimbabwe's biggest chrome mine and large Lithium deposits, will be retained by Moti himself and separately managed.
