A building in Traders Village caught fire on April 30, leaving two injured and the marketplace closed for the day.
The Cy-Fair Fire Department received a call about the fire at 12:21 p.m. before arriving on the scene at 12:29 p.m., assisted by Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Cy-Fair ISD Police Department and Jersey Village Fire Department. The fire was contained to one stall but damaged an awning on a nearby building.Capt. John Singleton with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office told OnScene TV the fire was extinguished quickly, though one firefighter and one civilian were treated for smoke inhalation.
“They were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition,” Singleton said. “The Harris County Fire Marshal's inspection and investigation division are here investigating the cause of the fire and the safety standards that were in place at the time of the fire.”Video provided to OnScene TV shows a fire at Traders Village on Sunday, April 30, 2023.The fire marshal’s office has not yet been able to determine a cause for the fire.
“It’s not clear what caused the fire,” Traders Village management said in a Facebook post. “We will be open next weekend. Thank you for your concerns, thoughts and prayers.”
