Ian Clifford, who received more than £54,000 ayear, claimed to be a victim of discrimination because his salary has not increased in the time he has been off work.

A senior IT worker who has been on sick leave for 15 years took his employer to court for discrimination because he has not received a pay rise.

Mr Clifford argued it is "not generous enough", claiming that his £54,028 salary will "wither" over time due to inflation. Under the grievance, Mr Clifford complained that he hadn't received a pay rise and also complained about holiday pay for the five-year period. In Mr Clifford's case, his agreed salary was £72,037 - meaning from 2013 he would be paid £54,028 per year after 25 per cent was deducted.

He said he had been treated 'unfavourably' with no salary increase since 2013, holiday entitlement and compared himself to a non-disabled employee who would have been paid their full salary during holidays.
