Ferryland RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay that happened on May 14.

A stolen excavator was used to break into the business and an ATM was stolen from inside.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, police received a report of an alarm sounding at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay. An excavator and a pickup truck, both stolen from a nearby business, were used to commit the crime. Police say the excavator caused extensive damages to the entrance of the business and the pickup truck was used to transport the stolen ATM.

On Monday morning, the pickup truck was located burned out in a gravel pit off of the Holyrood Access Road. Anyone having information about this crime is asked to contact Holyrood RCMP at 709-229-3892.
