Manager in court for stealing company property

A 40-year-old man, Damilola Isheniyi, was arraigned on Friday at an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing his employer’s goods and money to the tune of N1.1 million.The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is accused of stealing and unlawful conversion. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime between March and May at Vanguard Pharmacy, Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, where he was the manager. Rawlings stated that the defendant took goods worth N751,035 from the pharmacy but did not remit the money to the company’s account.

Additionally, the prosecutor said that the defendant converted N303,750 belonging to the company by reducing the money given to him to purchase diesel for the pharmacy.
