Fazio’s response to the civil claim did not deny the allegations of fraud and deceit but claimed she had been mistreated at work.

“The extensive materials filed by the plaintiffs, combined with Mr. Williams’ forensic accounting expert report and supplemented by counsel’s able submissions, paint an overwhelming case of fraud, misappropriation, conversion and deceit against Ms. Fazio,” Weatherill wrote in his judgment. Weatherill dismissed Fazio’s claims that she had been the subject of harassment, sexual harassment, overwork and general mistreatment during her time at the companies, which began in 1998.
