“I was thinking back on my experience there,” Leland said. “Everything they do there is carefully curated, everything is just really well done, and they’re able to charge for that. And people embrace it, they fly in on helicopters and everything else. We’re not going to get that.” Planning and drawings were done by late 2019, RCS Construction started work on the main spa building and six treatment huts, designed to look like Peggy’s Cove fishing huts, in the fall of 2021, and the spa has been open for two months.

“They’re custom-made to suit the size of the property,” Leland said. “So, they were floated over and then trucked in and then craned into place. “We have one that’s head and foot, it’s heaven. There’s couples massage, there’s pregnant woman massages. But it’s not about beauty, it’s about wellness, so we don’t do nails and hair and that stuff,” he said. “It’s starting to shift a bit. Initially, it was heavily women, because they were coming as groups. We don’t see a lot of groups of men coming, that’s not what they would do for a guys weekend.
