The Newville Historical Society posted Wednesday night on Facebook that it would be organizing the annual parade.

It appears the Halloween parade in Newville is going to take place after all.that “WE’RE TAKING ON THE HALLOWEEN PARADE! There will be a PARADE! Follow us for info!!”

This comes one week after the Newville Community Action Committee, the organization that has run the parade for decades, submitted a letter to the borough notifying officialsBorough president Scott Penner didn’t know for sure why the group broke up but said that “getting volunteers and support from the community at times has been difficult.”

Officials said last week that another group would have to take charge of the parade in order for to it to occur this year and they would need to speak up soon, ahead of the next borough council meeting on Sept. 26. That’s the last opportunity the council would have to approve street closings and apply for permits from the state to shut down state roads to accommodate the parade. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
