The Premier Soccer League transfer window, which was extended by 22 days beyond the traditional 1 September deadline, is drawing to a close on Friday, offering clubs more time to fine-tune their squads.

Since the 2023/24 season commenced in early August, the 16 teams competing in the DStv Premiership have participated in a range of five-to-nine matches.

An insider, who spoke to News24 on the condition of anonymity to safeguard professional relationships, shared that Stellenbosch is hesitant about selling. “I think in our player audit, we have put in so many players, even though we have never gone public about those players. But I think it’s very normal for a team like Kaizer Chiefs to be looking for quality players to strengthen the team.

Yet, while new additions are possible before Friday's 23:00 deadline, it's worth noting that the Motaung family's club, Amakhosi, has already secured eight signings this season. Swallows managed to attract the seasoned coach with a one-year deal and he brought along veteran midfielder Andile Jali to captain the side. So far, under his guidance, the team has recorded two wins, two draws and two losses across all competitions.
