Shares of defense equipment/products firm BAE Systems PLC BA, +1.12% and gambling industries company Entain PLC ENT, +0.88% climbed 1.12% and 0.88%, respectively.

The pound was down 0.57% against dollar GBPUSD, -0.61% at $1.2129 and was up 0.10% against the euro GBPEUR, +0.11% at €1.1551.
