The Ladi Memorial Foundation (LMF) has sensitised and empowered over 1,000 female students on the need to acquire a skill in order to become economically

Visiting three secondary schools in the FCT to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, the executive secretary of LMF, Mrs Rosemary Ojochenemi Osikoye, reaffirmed the importance of the girl child learning a skill.

She said, “The theme of the international day of the girl child 2023 is ‘Our time is now, our rights, our future.’ If you look at that very closely when we talk about the future, the future starts now with the empowerment of the girl to become economically independent. “If you look at the society, the girl child is already disadvantage in many ways which is why It is important for her to have a functional skills for livelihood, whether they are professional skills or just occupational skills that help their everyday survival and also help them to manage their homes better”.

The foundation visited Junior Secondary School, Pyakasa, Senior Secondary School , Pyakasa and Nigeria-Korea Model School Piwoye and distributed Bags, Sport wears and sanitary towels to the female students after the sensitization programme. Also speaking at the visits, the director, Mass Education of the FCTA, Halilaf Alayande, told the students to be deliberate on the path they wanted to choose in order to achieve success in life.
