The council is considering making the trial pedestrian zone in the market permanent.

Residents and businesses are being urged to give feedback on a trial pedestrian scheme in a town centre.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has transformed parts of Beverley's Saturday Market area into a pedestrian zone to promote walking and cycling.The authority is asking for feedback before a decision is made on whether to make the pedestrian area permanent. Council leader Anne Handley said: "The council created this pedestrian area with two main goals: to encourage sustainable travel and to support local businesses, in line with our key priorities of valuing the environment and growing the economy.

"We believe it has been a success and has brought many benefits to Beverley, but we want to know what the public and businesses think.In response to initial feedback, the council said it had made some improvements to the area last November.
