Fire on the R31 between Hotazel and Kuruman in the Northern Cape is still blazing

The fire on the R31 between Hotazel and Kuruman in the Northern Cape is still blazing. The fire started yesterday, and the local fire protection association is still attempting to extinguish it.

Spokesperson for the Northern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance, Babalwa Mzambo, says although the fire is contained they are continuing to monitor the situation. Mzambo says, “Community members and road users are reminded to be cautious as the fire on the R31 between Kuruman and Hotazel is still on, although contained, and is not a threat to the surrounding communities. Aerial support is still on activation and monitoring the situation.”
