California has pumped the breaks on allowing cruise to operate its self-driving cars on roadways. The states Department of Motor Vehicles suspended the company’

The state of California’s DMV revoked the company’s operating license for the time being citing “the department determined the manufacturer's vehicles are not safe for the public's operation.” 13 CCR s227.42 – The department shall immediately suspend or revoke the Manufacturer’s Testing Permit or a Manufacturer’s Testing Permit – Driverless Vehicles if a manufacturer is engaging in a practice in such a manner that immediate suspension is required for the safety of persons on a public road.

According to the company’s website, the cruise car tried to avoid causing more road safety issues but wound up pulling the pedestrian forward approximately 20 feet. I will continue to closely monitor the situation and collaborate with our partners to address any concerns that may arise. The well-being and safety of our community remain my top priorities.
