More than three quarters of large UK employers are paying women less than men on average, according to new data. And the gender pay gap is actually growing at roughly half of the companies. Companies with 250 or more employees in the United Kingdom had a deadline Friday to publish gender pay data, the second consecutive year of mandatory disclosures designed to encourage equality. The data show that women are paid less on average across all industries in the public and private sectors.

Jefferies , for example, reported a gender pay gap of just under 50%. That means the median woman at the investment bank is paid half what the median man gets. The company didn't respond to a request for comment, but it said in a report published alongside the data that"we recognize that we still have more work to do."Big banks including Barclays , HSBC , Lloyds Bank and UBS also revealed median gaps of between 30% and 45%.

What about the gap in the other 68 genders? 😂😂😂

It would be good to see all of the variables instead of a half informed statement. Of course, I don’t think CNN has reporters that gather facts . Mostly they just scream out their opinions.

Until all women are required at age 18 to register w/the selective service for the draft like the men have to do then women may not b equal w/men.Otherwise,men will just b pretending that women r equal w/them. So...step to the plate women&register at your local post office today.

Maybe women should

How are the thigh gaps in the UK? I wonder if there is any correlation

But CNN keeps saying how great and fair the UK is.

Why not report on Americans who AREN'T working because of this!

It's legal to pay women less than men in the UK? Why aren't most men unemployed!?

They don’t get paid less, the stats they cite are based on yearly income. It’s illegal to pay people less based on gender. They should also post the stats that show what women work less hours, take more vacations, and do less overtime compared to men.

CNN’s “reporting” is insane and it does not have any relationship with the truth.

Utter bollox

The gender pay gap isn’t real.

Sus, ang problema kase may sumosorta sa mga ganitong reports tanong nyo gabriela nu ba tlga pinaglalaban nila

Anong study ba ginawa dyan? Sakin may mga trabaho na dapat mas malaki bayad sa mga lalaki, and meron din naman dapat mas malaki bayad sa babae.

Prove your not guilty!😂😂 Having a large pay gap doesn't necessarily mean companies pay women less than their male colleagues in the same roles, which is illegal under UK law. But the Fawcett Society says women need better data in order to fight against possible discrimination

Nobody ever wants to talk about professions where women get paid more. Or where men and women do not do equal labor work. Its a one way debate.

Gender pay gap are fiction NOT exist

And we care in the USA why?

You are wilfully misinterpreting data to push a partisan and misguided liberal agenda (again). Here the data is explianed for 1st year university students, trust its not too complex for cnn journalists

If it was cheaper hiring women, why wouldn’t companies only focus on hiring women?

Unions and Minimum Wage increase propagate same results. 1. Unions protect tenured workers preventing motivation work dedication. 2. High Minimum Wage cuts company overhead; prevents merit raises of good workers removes incentive to go the extra mile. .

Not only in UK companies but also in ugandan bed rooms

Has no-one told you that the UK is trying to make it self go back to the rose-tinted 1950's?

Hello, 2015 called, it wants its issues back
