The SABC has welcomed the ruling of the High Court in Johannesburg against the African Content MovementThe court has dismissed with costs the ACM’s application in which the party, which is led by former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng, sought to compel the public broadcast to carry live the launch of the party’s 2019 election manifesto in Durban on Saturday.
“It’s about equitable coverage, so obviously those parties that have proved themselves and the majority people have voted for them, will get more coverage than newcomers. The issue which I think is very clear in all the legislation is equitable coverage meaning that the big parties will get more coverage,” says Skinner.
