Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott has urged both major parties to prioritise faster economic growth ahead of fairness during the election campaign.
Campaigning has began in earnest on Thursday after prime minister Scott Morrison announced the federal election will be held on May 18. Ms Westacott told Sky News both sides need to address Australia's 'sluggish' economy, which according to the International Monetary Fund is growing annually at just 2.1 per cent. She says both sides of politics must acknowledge that fairness can only be achieved with 'strong and growing' economy.
