Lesufi to continue as premier while ANC in Ekurhuleni removes EFF’s Nkululeko Dunga as finance MMC

return as premier, with main negotiations seemingly wrapped ahead of the Gauteng legislature sitting scheduled to take place on Friday.

The sitting will also consider the election of chairpersons of committees and the designation of permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces , along with the chairperson and deputy chairperson of the NCOP.According to City Press sources, parties such as the ANC, DA, IFP, Patriotic Alliance and other small parties agreed to form a coalition government to run Gauteng. However, this arrangement does not include the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe Party and the EFF.

Other parties like ActionSA secured three seats, Freedom Front Plus and PA got two seats, the IFP got one seat, and small parties such as Rise Mzansi and Build One SA, expected to debut in the Gauteng legislature, only got one seat, respectively.

Meanwhile, with coalition discussions under way among parties in the province, Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has removed EFF’s Nkululeko Dunga as a member of the mayoral committee for finance"in light of unforeseen misalignments". This move was interpreted as confirmation that the EFF was unlikely to be part of a governing coalition led by the ANC in Gauteng.
