Chicago Fire Department firefighters battle a massive blaze at a pallet yard in the 2000 block of W. Hubbard Street in Chicago on June 18, 2024. An extra-alarm fire at a West Town pallet company shut down the intersection of Damen Avenue and Hubbard Street for much of late Tuesday afternoon as firefighters battled the blaze that officials said broke out near a fertilizer facility.
No injuries were reported at the business at 2029 W. Hubbard St., despite the fire alarm being raised to a 4-11, with a hazardous materials response, the Chicago Fire Department said on X, the website formerly known as Twitter. Public records list the business as Commercial Pallet. A 4-11 alarm is one of the largest responses the department can signal, summoning vast amounts of firefighting personnel, equipment and the fire commissioner. Fire crews responded to a call of pallets on fire in a building supply warehouse, fire officials said.Click to print
