Key political and business figures are among over 1,000 people queuing in Co Sligo to pay their respects to former RTÉ journalist Tommie Gorman.He retired from RTÉ in April 2021 after a career spanning 40 years.

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is among those gathered at the funeral home in Cartron Cross where Mr Gorman's remains are reposing.Former Tánaiste and EU Commissioner Ray MacSharry queued alongside his son Marc, who is Independent TD for Sligo-Leitrim, and former Fianna Fáil politician Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher from Co Donegal.Businessman Denis O'Brien flew in from Portugal a short time ago to pay his respects before he travels to London.

The funeral cortege will first make a farewell journey to The Showgrounds, the home of Mr Gorman's beloved Sligo Rovers.Mr Gorman will be buried later at nearby Kilmacowen Cemetery.
