The uMkhonto weSizwe Party will receive the official opposition status in the National Assembly. This comes as the second largest party, the Democratic Alliance , is now part of the National Executive through the Government of National Unity .Its Parliamentary leader John Hlophe will become the leader of the official opposition in the Assembly as DA leader John Steenhuisen is in government.
