Since the outbreak earlier this year, 16 farms have tested positive – 14 in Kouga and two in East London.

“We sent our vets to all the farms where they visited the cattle and examined them. They are treating them, hence measures to quarantine them and restrict movement in and out of the area so that they don’t affect others,” Kontsiwe says.Chief Director of Veterinary Services in the Eastern Cape, Dr. Cebisa Mnqeta, says that movement restrictions are in place across affected regions.
