A fundraiser has been launched in support of the businesses that were attacked during disorder in South Belfast.

The attacks took place throughout the day with a cafe and hotels in the Botanic area being attacked at around 1pm on August 3, with further damage being done to a cafe and shop in the Sandy Row area following disorder at 8pm, which continued for a number of hours and saw cars set on fire in the road. It has been started by Stephen Montgomery who said: "I'm setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of the Sahara Shisha Cafe located on Botanic Ave, Belfast. "This act of hate was a result of the Islamophobic "protests" held in the city earlier that day which spiralled out of control. The only reason this cafe was targeted was because of the owners being muslim. An act of racism which we don't tolerate in our city.
