While TMPD's big dagga bust is a win for law enforcement, it's a significant loss for rural farmers who are just trying to get by.

Commissioner Yolanda Faro said TMPD made their biggest dagga bust on Wednesday when a tipoff led them to compressed-dagga to the street value of approximately R1.5 million on the N1.“The dagga was confiscated on the N1 on its way to Johannesburg with an estimated street value of R1.5 million,” she said.“We want to send a strong message out to people transporting drugs and selling drugs… the TMPD will zoom in on anybody transporting and selling drugs.

“It doesn’t matter where it came from, the farmer who grew that cannabis took a big knock and those along the supply chain,” he said.“Many people don’t think it’s a craft growing dagga, but it not as easy as it seems, it takes a lot of money and hard work.”
