The investment at the firm's base in Stirling will see the creation of a new sterile manufacturing facility.

A Stirling firm at the forefront of helping pharmaceutical firms develop vaccines and drug therapies is to create 50 new jobs as part of a £26million investment.

As part of the investment, Symbiosis will receive a £4.3m grant from Scottish Enterprise - with the firm’s chief executive meeting with Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes at the drug manufacturing site in the city at an event yesterday . “Additionally, the new facility will bring direct long-term economic benefit to Scotland to reflect the successful export-focused strategy of Symbiosis.”

Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said: “This support for Symbiosis is just one example of how Scottish Enterprise is targeting key areas – in this case the life sciences sector – to bring significant capital investment and improve manufacturing, boosting exports. The grant support follows a “record set of results” reported by Scottish Enterprise - with the agency claiming over 9,000 jobs have been created in Scotland as a result of inward investment, which is the highest rate for five years.
