File Image | Thousands of people gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu Natal to pay their last respect to the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.Ballistic expert Edward Sereo has confirmed Colonel Chris Mangena’s findings, stating that the firearm seized from one of the accused is the Senzo Meyiwa murder weapon.
The State has called chief forensic analyst within the South African Police Service to the witness stand. Mncube is alleged to be one of intruders that entered the Khumalo home and he is also alleged to be the deadlocked gunman that shot and killed Meyiwa.“The marks that are transferred by the firearm to fired cartridge cases and guns, those marks form part of the objective facts, because they are in the components of the firearm. Even if the firearm is fired by person A, it will transfer the marks that are in, if that firearm is handed over to person B, it will transfer the same marks.
“Those grooves number one must be still aligned. So, this means that if you rotate your bullet right up to the 60-groove number one from the exhibit side will still be aligned with groove number one on the test side. The marks that I obtained from in the third groove, they also confirm and validate what I found in group number one and in group number two,” he adds.
