Sani Pass, Boesmansnek and Monontsha ports of entry have been closed off for operations today until further notice.
The commissioner of the Border Management Authority , Dr Michael Masiapato, issued a notice to travellers that in light of the persistent snowfall, the conditions leading to some ports of entry have become risky underfoot. The BMA says this is a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety of travellers, tourists and officials due to the significant danger being posed by the current conditions.
Travellers have been advised that Ficksburg Port, Caledonspoort, Makhaleng, as well as Maseru Ports of Entry, can be used as alternatives to enter Lesotho.on the N3 between Estcourt and Mooi River since late last night due to heavy snow that fell in the area. Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says police who are also among those stranded are assisting those entrapped in the snow despite them being in the same situation.
