Residents of Mphagane village outside Giyani in Limpopo have raised concerns over severe drought conditions. They allege that more than 150 head of cattle and sheep have died due to the drought.
Residents, Joseph Mashele and Lillian Mlambo, say attempts to get relief from the government have been futile. “We have a major problem of a drought in Mphagane, our government has not assisted us. There is no food for the cattle. We were only assisted a long time ago. Then we were given just four or five bags of fodder, which is not enough,” says Mashele.
“We lost all our livestock and we rely on cattle to feed our families. I am heartbroken because I am now unable to fend for my family,” says Mlambo.
