The West Shore RCMP says a stolen dinosaur statue has been returned to its rightful owners after it was swiped from a Langford business.

The West Shore RCMP says a stolen dinosaur statue has been returned to its rightful owners after it was swiped from a Langford business earlier this month.

The statue, which police describe as a “T-Rex,” was reported stolen from a “prehistoric-themed business” on Oct. 2, though it was actually taken several weeks beforehand, according to RCMP. Mounties say that after it was reported stolen, an officer remembered seeing the statue during an unrelated call.

“The officer went back and retrieved the dinosaur from a person who advised they bought it second hand,” said West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar on Friday.Mounties also credit tips from the community with helping track down the wayward dinosaur. “Thanks to a Dino-mite investigation and some helpful tips, West Shore RCMP Frontline Officers were able to recover the jurassic art and return it to the business,” said Mounties in a social media post Thursday.Adam Chan is a Digital News Editor who joined CHEK News in 2023.
