Sergeant Rachel Kutumela faces six counts of murder and several others of insurance fraud.

A 43-year-old police officer who allegedly benefitted to the tune of R10 million from the murder of six civilians is expected to apply for bail at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo today.Police say she allegedly preyed on people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those living with disabilities.

She allegedly took out insurance policies in their names and later killed them for claims as a beneficiary. Her co-accused, Florah and Annah Shokane, each face three counts of money laundering and three others of benefitting from the proceeds of crime.Two more arrests have been made in the case of a Police Sergeant who is accused of benefitting from insurance policy related murders . The pair, a 47-year-old nurse is a sister to Sergeant Rachel Shokane Kutumela and the other suspect is a 27-year-old daughter of the Sergeant.
