Transport Minister Barbara Creecy conducts a special visit to assess progress on the R573 Moloto Corridor Road Project from Limpopo to Gauteng.Transport Minister Barbara Creecy says the barring of people from hitch-hiking by taxi operators is an infringement on their rights.
She says they have engaged with the South African National Taxi Council to warn its members not to engage in acts of criminality. Creecy says, “I have had engagements with the president of Santaco and I have said to him that first of all this is not constitutional behaviour. I think that if we want to give our friends a we are allowed to do that, obviously if we were to provide public transport, that is another matter. I think there is a difference between giving your friend a lift and joining together as co-workers.
