ByBoehringer Ingelheim Inc. launched its annual “Stop Rabies” program in Puerto Galera, Mindoro, as part of World Rabies Day. The program aims to combat the spread of the disease through education, vaccination, and sterilization efforts.
Now in its third year, the initiative focuses on rabies education, mass animal vaccinations, and neutering for cats and dogs. Organizers plan to vaccinate around 5,000 animals across 13 barangays, including Aninuan, San Isidro, and Balatero. Educational sessions on rabies prevention and responsible pet ownership are also being conducted in schools in Palangan, Poblacion, Tabinay, and Dulangan.Dr.
Partners in the program include the Philippine Animal Hospital Association, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, and local government units, among others. Sterilization efforts are being conducted in collaboration with veterinary associations and field hospitals. The program is part of Boehringer Ingelheim’s long-term goal to eliminate rabies by 2030 through sustained community engagement and medical interventions.
