One measure shows Americans have paid an extra $34 billion in tariffs since the start of the trade war with China

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks to guests during a campaign rally at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel on March 30, 2016 in Appleton, Wisconsin.Americans shelled out tens of billions of dollars in tariffs over the past year and a half.

Tariff collections are expected to increase in the coming months as the Trump administration attempts to pressure China to change trade practices seen as unfair. As President Donald Trump escalated a trade dispute with China over the past year and a half, Americans shelled out tens of billions of dollars in tariffs.

"Business leaders and economists across the country agree the trade war is seriously damaging our economy, killing American jobs and making goods more expensive for American families and small businesses," said Jonathan Gold, a spokesperson for Tariffs Hurt the Heartland. In August alone, the groups estimated Americans paid $6.5 billion in tariffs. The 48% increase from the same month last year was largely driven by tariffs implemented by the Trump administration, the group said, which accounted for $3.4 billion. In its latest budget statement,Dan Anthony, the vice president of the Trade Partnership, said tariff figures can vary because they are recorded by multiple departments and subject to revisions.

Americans will never pay $5,000 for a flat screen TV ... just because it's made in Cleveland, Ohio !!! US needs to negotiate a royalty stream payments from China for the IP - tech that has been copied / stolen from the US ... rather than tariffs paid by US consumers.

Our trade deficit with China was over $400 billion in 2018. Over $ 1,000,000,000.00 a day leaving our economy for the communist regime. Obviously not sustainable. This has been the first attempt by any administration to level the playing field.
