General election 2019: Labour plans to shift power and investment north

The shadow chancellor says he will move Treasury staff out of London to ensure the regions get a fair share of it.In his first major speech of the election campaign, Mr McDonnell will promise"investment on a scale never seen before in this country and certainly never seen before in the north and outside of London and the south east".

That is nearly £5bn extra a month, a number that represents more than double current levels of investment. So Labour ministers might find themselves promising better schools and hospitals but fall frustratingly behind on delivery. The strategy is to pay for all this by borrowing, not taxing. Mr Corbyn plans to host a rally in Manchester in the evening and will travel on the bus as the party targets"dozens" of marginal constituencies in the coming five weeks.

North of Iceland!

21 November 1974 I was in Birmingham with a party of 28 school children yards away when the 1st IRA bomb exploded. This evil piece of Trotsky scum johnmcdonnellMP stated in 2003 supported for the bombers and said we should honour them. One very sick excuse of a man.

Forget politics johnmcdonnellMP SUPPORTED THE KILLING OF BRITISH SOLDIERS he said 'It's about time we started honouring the IRA involved in the armed struggle. It was the bombs & bullets & sacrifice made by the likes of Bobby Sands that brought Britain to the negotiating table'

How far north, he goes to his hometown of liverpool but that's closer to the Midlands than the north, then he thinks theres nothing before Scotland.

He means North Islington!

Naga Munchety looks beautiful every day, & today is no exception. But why is she wearing a onesie. Zebra design. xx

Does this apply to Wales too? The Labour regime has been in power for the last twenty odd years? Labour's ignorance of North Wales is inexcusable, even the local Labour MP has brought up the issue several times in the Senedd, and the House of Commons...

we've been allowed to wither on the vine since 1979-time for a change

Borrowing looks like about 500 billion so far that will take the Tories 25 years to put right same old Labour crippled the country yet again and the public fall for it and then inflation will hit 10% plus and they will strike for more money

Beware of Liars 🤥 desperate for power and could make fake promises.....another FAKE MANIFESTO!

Very good. It's not rocket science. Give citizens a say. Make life better. People deserve to be happy. Their ancestors struggled into early graves.

Where’s the evidence

Nobody supports them after Labour ditched their decency and core values.

Its already started to happen but not because of Labour. Companies and broadcasters are moving north because its cheaper and they've already been given incentives by the government.

Bit of a typo in that tweet - should have read “to North Korea “

Get me some of what he's drinking. Total fantasy. Do these politicians just come out with stupid statements hoping the electorate are stupid as well to get votes?

LOL Labour playing catch up to the Conservatives, who are actually going to do something to level up the North rather than the empty promises of Steptoe & Ronald McD.

Where to...Moscow?

Better get planting those money trees......

Not voting bit their are ppl that Actully belive this crap just so partys can stay in a job it fucking unreal .

Why start making all these bullcap storys up when a election coming up?
