[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower on Thursday after the release of weaker-than-expected growth data in Japan and amid ongoing doubts over a US-China trade deal.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged down 0.08 per cent or 18.53 points to 23,301.34 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.19 per cent or 3.21 points at 1,697.12.
