Recyclus LTD, a company owned by Technology Minerals PLC, is set to scale its circular economy efforts with new industry partnerships. The company's fully operational facility in the UK is already processing Li-ion battery waste and achieving a high recycling rate.

Recyclus is preparing to expand its circular economy initiative, stating that it is in advanced talks with several potential industry partners both within the UK and internationally. On Monday, Technology Minerals PLC announced that Recyclus LTD, a company they own 48% of, has formed a partnership with a major online retailer. 'We continue to see companies across various sectors interested in adopting our technology,' a company spokesperson told Mining Journal.

Recyclus's fully operational facility in the UK is currently processing a consistent flow of Li-ion battery waste from diverse commercial sources and has achieved a notable recycling rate of up to 45% net black mass yield. The company stated that while transitions can be challenging for businesses, 'early adopters will benefit in the long term.' Recyclus is one of several technology companies aiming to significantly contribute to the energy transition through 'urban mining.' The ICMM, the industry body, released a strategy promoting circularity in mining in 2023. Other organizations, including law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, which published an op-ed in Mining Journal in November 2024 on the topic, have also emphasized the importance of recycling. 'Recycling will increasingly become an important additional source of the raw materials needed to support the technologies of the transition,' the authors stated. For Technology Minerals, the latest news 'marks a positive message to the market here in the UK that with the right technology, effective recycling back into the supply chain meets several important criteria,' it told Mining Journal
