Those with the most predictable processes, the greatest assurance of a clear outcome, the shortest timeline and the fewest regulatory hurdles and uncertainties have a major advantage. The longer the process takes or the more unpredictable it gets, the greater the concern about deal-completion risk.

Other examples of collateral investor chill include amendment proposals targeting innovation.
