Sugar tax has cost R1bn and should be shelved, industry saysSA Cane Growers’ Association says that its impact on obesity is still questionable, but its knock to the economy and jobs is certain Now imagine what wealth taxes and such have done to other industries . The sugar tax has also resulted in poisonous sweeteners being added to almost all the cooldrinks now. These cause cancer, diabetes, weight gain & other health issues. Politicians are causing the exact problems they claim to fight & we must all pay into NHI while they sicken us? I saw it coming. This is/was always going to be unnecessary, government never serious about health issues, if they were, they'd ban alcohol and have a 'fat tax'. Ripple effect always leads to high unemployment.

I agree get rid of this sugar tax it will lead to layoffs in the sugar industry which is counterproductive.
